Do you have a Fitness buddy? A partner that you love to workout with? There are so many benefits from exercising with a friend - here are my top 10 reasons!!

1 - More Motivation

Working out with a buddy will usually mean you both work harder and will motivate each other through those tough points of a workout.  You can also motivate each other to run faster, lift more or just get to the workout in the first place!

2 - More Fun

One of the key elements to forming a habit is making it fun and an enjoyable experience and one of the easiest ways to make fitness fun is to do it with others - You'll enjoy working out as a pair much more and build lasting relationships as a result!

3 - More competitive

Friendly competitiveness will encourage you to push each other - bring a friend along to my workout studio and before long you'll be pushing each other to perform that extra rep, punch harder or lift heavier - meaning the pair of you will meet your fitness goals quicker.

4 - Learn more

The more you workout, the more you'll discover what works for you, your goals and your enjoyment. Sharing your top tips on exercising, fitness and healthy recipes with friends as you work out, means you'll learn twice as much in a fraction of the time!

5 - Spotting and supporting each other

When you're giving your all, it can be easy to lose track of reps - working out with a buddy eliminates this problem as they can keep count for you... You can also keep an eye on each other's form too if you're working out in a gym without a personal trainer to guide you.

6 - Save money

There are lots of ways to save money by working out with a pal - eg you could save money on fuel by driving to the sessions together and personal training sessions will be cheaper if you're a pair too!

7 - Fewer skipped workouts / accountability

By working out with a friend, you'll be more inclined to stick to your workout programme as you won't want to let your partner in crime down! Why not make a pact at the start of your fitness journey to be accountable to each other - no excuses!

8 - Help to achieve your fitness goals

Why not set  a goal together - Sign up for an event - maybe a Run, Obstacle course race, cycle race or commit to a certain number of workouts or personal training sessions - This will help keep you on track and will give you both a target to strive towards and smash together.

9 - Bring variety to your workouts

Your workout buddy will probably have different skills and knowledge to you - you can benefit from this by the different exercises they have experienced.  Also you can incorporate partner exercises into your workout schedule too! Variety is one of the key components of fun, so you're much more likely to stick to your workouts when things are fresh and interesting.

10 - Celebrate success together!

You can delight in discussing your successes together and celebrate your achievements together - Maybe with a glass of champers - after all you'll have earnt it with your hard work when you've hit your fitness goals!!

Survival of the Fittest

Hey everyone,

Hope you're all well!! Today my blog is to write a review of Survival of the Fittest obstacle race in London....

So on Saturday 23rd July, Hannah Bailey and myself took part in the amazing Survival of the Fittest event at Wembley Stadium!!

We left Norwich super early and had a great drive straight in to Wembley stadium, car park was perfect and we were nervous but very excited to be taking on this massive event!  The weather was absolutely scorching and we were in the 11am wave so knew we were gonna be boiling!!

So the time had finally arrived and after a quick warm up we were off, in temperatures of 26 degrees.... The first part of the race was lots of running around the amazing Wembley stadium with a few  small ish obstacles thrown in! The organisation was fantastic, marshalls were brilliant too - so encouraging and always on hand with water sprays to cool you down!!

Due to the hot temperatures the event put on an extra water stop too!!

So after lots of running around the stadium, a water slide and running through a storm drain (which was not good for my claustrophobia) we were heading back to the village area for the main obstacle section!

The rat race obstacles did not disappoint at all - Monkey bars, space hoppers, a massive water slide, huge cargo nets, the biggest wall climbs ever, a rope climb and a whole load of other obstacles!! But my favourite two obstacles were the Stunt man air bag jump and the fabulous Travilator that made me feel like I was taking part in the Gladiators TV show!!!!

Massive thanks to Hannah for racing with me at the last minute, you were fab! But absolutely gutted for Jenny Henry too who couldn't race due to injury! Also lovely to meet Jojo from the Mudd Queens too!

So all in all a superb event which I definitely want to take part in again next year..... My upper body hurt so bad the next day though after completing the monkey bars and rope climb which made my year!!

Norwich 50 Bike ride!!

Good afternoon everyone!!

Last Sunday, Team Adrenalize - Julie Hunt, Ralph Hunt, Mickey Longstaff, Tom Watts and myself took part in a 50 mile bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation, it was a brilliant event and here's my full review.....

So we arrived at the Forum bright and early at 8am ready to set off for our 50 miles at 8.30am, we even had a couple of people to wave us off - thanks Jan Roberts and Taylor Grant Fordham!!  I was pretty nervous pre race, mainly due to the fact that I hadn't done a huge amount of training and also that I was ill in the week leading up to the race but no time for excuses now - we were at the start line and raring to go!!

The weather was chilly to start with but soon the sun shined for us and we made our way round the route which was absolutely bloody gorgeous!! We made our way from Norwich towards Reepham which was the first designated stop (for water fill ups and toilet break) and after 15 miles we were there.... Great to see Richard Childs of Richard Mobile cycles there and he kindly checked our tyre pressures too!

So water bottles filled and tyres pumped we were off again and we made our way to the next stop which was at Aylsham Bure railway at 35 miles.... Quick stop off en route to help a lady who had taken a tumble and hit her head on the road - she was very shaken and luckily Nurse Mickey was able to help her and advise her that she should call the emergency number and not continue with the ride - poor lady hope my jelly babies helped and that she was ok.

A couple of brutal hills were torture for my quads (they were on fire) but I was super determined to keep up with Mickey and Tom!!

More beautiful scenery later and we arrived at the Bure Valley Railway for water and wees!!  Apart from being saddle sore I felt fab at this point and raring to tackle the last 15 miles to home....

But this all changed at about 42 miles - my quads completely seized up and just felt like they were gonna explode and my back was agony from leaning over the handlebars... Huge thank you to Tom for helping me so much and pushing me through the horrible mile or two and also thanks to Mickey for carrying my rucksack the last part of the race!!

So at 45 miles, all was well again and I felt like I could have gone on for miles... The feeling riding through Norwich to get to the finish at the Cathedral was just amazing!!

We crossed the finish line and got our medals and free half of Adnams which was the nicest thing I've ever tasted after 50 miles on a bike! The atmosphere at the finish was brilliant, stalls, music and lots of happy cyclists!!

Mickey's GPS tracker told us that we had completed the race in 3 hours and 37 minutes and burnt an incredible 1400 calories!! I was well happy with this time and could no way have achieved this without Mickey and Tom!!

Massive well done too, to Julie and Ralph who did amazingly well on much more difficult bikes but completed the 50 miles in really good times!

So all in all a fantastic race which was so well organised from start to finish.....

When's the next one?????

Clean eating challenge!!

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all well today on this very rainy Wednesday!!

Ok so today I want to discuss the Adrenalize clean eating challenge that some of you took part in for two weeks during April/May!

It was great to actually have a facebook group dedicated to this challenge and over 60 people took part and were members of the group!

The challenge was brilliant and I was so pleased with the particpation from you all, the photos of food, recipe ideas, support to others was absolutely fantastic!!

I found that the challenge was fairly straightforward during the week and as long as I was organised and prepared, it was ok.... but the weekends were a totally different story!! It was so tough and highlighted that I do enjoy my weekend treats!!

The challenge taught me so much though and it was a brilliant learning experience - especially that you cannot buy any convenience food from a supermarket without refined sugar in (except Nak'd bars, fruit or nuts!!).

I'm so glad that I decided to do this Adrenalize challenge and am making healthier food choices as a result now..... I am following the clean eating diet 80% of the time - everyone needs treats in life right??!!

So to conclude this challenge nicely - I'd love the following feedback from you all:

* Highlights of the challenge
* Hardest things about the challenge
* Changes made since the challenge
* Any ideas for possible future challenges??

Please comment by clicking on "comment" at the top of this post!!

Many thanks,

Chelle xx

Fit Pro Live!!

Afternoon everyone and Happy Friday!!

So last Friday I attended Fit Pro live at Hammersmith in London... Fit Pro live is an event for fitness professionals with various workshops and lectures running throughout the day.

I was super excited about the day, having never attended one before and I'm always keen to learn new skills and ideas for my business! So I was up at the crack of dawn and on the road at 5.30am!

Arrived at the venue which was a Novotel hotel and met a lovely lady at the entrance, we got chating and spent lots of the day together!! Thanks Emily Lakin for making the day even better and being a fab boxing partner.

My first session of the day was a Nutrition lecture with Ben Coomber which was really interesting and gave me some new and fresh ideas to building diets!!

Next up was the Ricky Hatton masterclass - this was a workshop so lots of punching expected!! Ricky Hatton was brilliant and really patient with the numerous requests for photos - not everyday you get to meet a boxing champion!!  The masterclass was brilliant with lots of techiniques and tips learnt which will come in very handy for both my personal training sessions and boxfit class.

After a quick break it was straight in to Olympic weightlifting - this was also brilliant and I have already implemented some of the moves and techniques into my personal training sessions!!

Final practical of the day was TRIBE team training - so after 2.5 hours of intense exercise already my muscles were feeling it but little did they know what was about to come!!  TRIBE team training was brilliant but brutal - we were split into teams and we all had to carry out certain exercises are quickly as possible - I honestly felt physically sick at the end but was delighted to be the first person that finished!!  Lots of ideas for my bootcamp will be coming in the future!!

And finally I attended a Social media lecture with Rachel Holmes! I loved this session so much, it was so informative and watch this space for loads of videos from me when Facebook live launches on android!!

The day was really well organised and the goodies bags were fab too!!

So all in all a fantastic day which provided me with lots of inspiration, loved it and can't wait till next year!!

Afternoon everyone,

Another beautiful day out there!

I'm just back from a gorgeous 12.5 mile bike ride, I've entered a 50 mile bike ride at the start of June with a few other crazy people as part of Team Adrenalize!  So lovely to be out and about today!

So today was my first longish ride with many more planned before the big day in June!  If anyone fancies joining in with the cycling mayhem, why not sign up and join Team Adrenalize - great way to get fit for the summer! Message me if you're in!

Also on the subject of bikes, I just want to give a massive shout out to Richard Childs of Richards Mobile cycles.... Richard sorted out one of my tyres for me and also fitted two new cogs and a chain to my husbands bike too!  Amazing service, super convenient as Richard is mobile and comes to you and also very reasonable!

So if you need any work done on your bike or just a service ready for the spring give Richard a bell.

Enjoy the sunshine people....

Afternoon everyone!!

I recently had the fantastic opportunity of writing an article for Eastlife magazine!! Eastlife magazine is the East of Englands essential guide for what's on around the region!

A stylish B5 glossy title, Eastlife is dedicated to bringing you the latest news, trends and events from across East Anglia. Covering Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire to bring readers a monthly round-up of enjoyable and innovative content.

The magazine features everything from lifestyle, food and drink, home and garden, property, health, theatre, arts and most importantly the latest events, so I was chuffed to bits when asked to write an article on cycling!!

Please take a look at my finished article (click on link and scroll through online mag to page 55) which features in the latest April edition of the magazine! It includes benefits of cycling, tips and recommended routes - hope you like it!!

Cheers,

Only the Brave!!

Good morning everyone and Happy Easter!!

Today I want to write a review on Only the Brave which took place last Sunday 20th March at Elveden!!

So Jenny Henry and I were running this together and as usual it was a pleasure to run with Jenny, we really bring out the best in each other and give each other the encouragement needed!!

We drove to Elveden early as we were booked onto the 10.30 five mile race and as usual felt the pre race nerves which resulted in various bursts of giggles!!

The setting for the race was absolutely beautiful and after registering we wandered around appreciating the gorgeous surroundings.... After a race briefing and warm up we were off and for once the weather was perfect too!

The course was fantastic and at one point we were running alongside a field with a lovely deer!!  The terrain was really tough at times and you had to concentrate on every step, after a few obstacles at the start, the race felt like a cross country run as lots of running with no obstacles.

Then we approached King of the Hill!! This was super tough on the lungs as you had to run and up and down a steep hill ten times - but we powered through!!

Towards the end of the race there were some fun obstacles and leading up to the finish line was brilliant as it was lined with obstacles and spectators!!

So all in all a really enjoyable and well organised race - hoping for more obstacles next year though!!

We finished in 1 hour 20 minutes which was 44 and 45 out of nearly 200 runners!! We were 13th and 14th ladies - so a fab result!!

Running!!!!

Good morning everyone!!

Happy Good Friday and what an amazing day - the sunshine is bloody fantastic!

So I started my day today with a 6 mile run....

I've been running quite a bit recently to keep my fitness levels high for all of the obstacle races that I've entered this year!

And it's only just recently that I've really started to enjoy it - I used to hate every step and dread the thought of pounding the pavements!  But now I find that after a couple of miles, I switch off and get in the running zone that I heard so many others speak about!!

Yes the first 2 miles are still horrible but once my muscles have warmed and I get into my stride, I start to enjoy it!

And I never thought I would say that!! So fellow runners out there who hate it, stick with it and hopefully you'll grow to like it too!

Have a great day,

Chelle xx
